Osun clergyman murders his fellow pastor in Ikire shooting him with locally made gun

DETECTIVES from the Osun State Police Command have arrested an Ikire clergyman identified as Pastor Timothy Abiola and are set to charge him with murder after he shot his fellow man of the cloth Pastor Bamiji Ilori.

Osun State Police Command spokesperson Folasade Odoro, said that the reason for the action is yet to be ascertained and did not reveal the name of the church where the two pastors worked. Apparently, Pastor Abiola shot his colleague with a locally-made gun, which the police have now recovered.

Ms Odoro said that the suspect was arrested following a report made to the police by a relative of the deceased cleric. She stated that the remains of late pastor had been deposited at the Catholic Hospital’s morgue in the Oluyoro area of Apomu, near Ikire for an autopsy.

“Pastor Abiola had confessed to the police. Investigation into the killing has started and the suspect will soon be charged to court,” Ms Odoro added.

This is second such incident of clergy-on-clergy murder in Osun State over the last two years. In January 2014, a clergyman identified as Pastor Adepoju, stabbed his colleague and friend, Pastor Julius Oguntoye, to death in Gbongan, in Osun  State.
